The Kings will look to snap their three-game losing streak as they host New Orleans Pelicans for their home opener. While New Orleans has been on a roll recently, having won four out of their past five matches against Sacramento on the road. Expect this game to be another high scoring affair where depth and sharpshooting should likely prove decisive in winning this one.
New Orleans has won all three meetings against Sacramento this season and been favored in each one. Their defense has been instrumental to this success; they allow opponents to score 111.9 points per game compared to 112.2 by Sacramento. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram's offense has also been strong; these players provide mismatches for shorter Kings guards and wings while their height should give an edge in the paint.
The Kings have much room for improvement defensively, with recent struggles on the road being of particular concern against this Pelicans team. If they can establish some consistency in the backcourt and find some floor spacing from Kevin Huerter as floor spacing wing who can take advantage of defenders trying to stay with him; Huerter averaged 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over his last three games so could prove an underrated asset in this matchup.
