Charlotte Hornets vs. Washington Wizards Basketball Preview - 12-26-2024
Two of the worst teams in the NBA will clash when Charlotte Hornets host Washington Wizards this Thursday evening, having both spent much of their respective seasons trapped in my NBA Cellar Dwellers column and needing to improve in order to avoid another bottom-three finish.
Both teams have offensive issues, while Charlotte has improved defensively this season and that will be crucial against an inconsistent Wizards side. Furthermore, Charlotte is much stronger at home and will look to capitalize on that as they host Washington, who have lost 10 consecutive road games!
The Wizards offense has been somewhat inconsistent over recent weeks, yet has still managed to score enough points to stay above water. They rank 26th in points per game but tend to turn over the ball frequently which hinders their cause.
On the other hand, Charlotte Hornets have had some of the strongest defensive performances in the NBA this season and one of the better road teams as well.
Cody Martin remains out until late November and Miles Bridges has his suspension to serve. LaMelo Ball should start as point guard alongside Brandon Miller and Lamar Odom on the wings; Kyle Kuzma, Deni Avdija and Jordan Poole should round off their starting five.
