The Maryland Terrapins enter this game hoping to get off on the right foot without Taulia Tagovailoa and their talented weapons should help, although running game may prove challenging against an aggressive Spartan defense that could present obstacles.
Whoever steps into the Maryland quarterback role will face a considerable task in leading their offense. A number of names have been floated as potential replacements at quarterback: Billy Edwards Jr., MJ Morris, Cameron Edge and Champ Long are in consideration as potential quarterback candidates. Whoever steps into this position likely will rely heavily on running plays with a healthy Roman Hemby providing plenty of fuel - He amassed 1,287 yards from scrimmage during last season!
The Terrapins also strengthened their offensive line via the portal. Notable names include NC State transfer tackle Alan Herron and Georgia junior guard Aliou Bah, but more low-profile additions may play a larger role, including redshirt freshman mid 3-star OL Duffus and redshirt freshman high 4-star OL Kalonji who could prove invaluable early on.
Terps' defense has been another strength this season, led by safety Beau Brade and cornerback Tarheeb Still. Both players have contributed an interception through three games this year - although run defense remains problematic; over 120 yards per game has been allowed during first halves this season.
