On Wednesday night, two 11-4 teams will battle it out at Madison Square Garden in what should be an epic contest of attrition. Providence Friars look to remain competitive within a tight Big East pack while St John's Red Storm hope to extend their current three-game win streak.

Both teams enter this game with impressive records, so both will need to bring their A game if they hope to cover the spread in this highly-anticipated contest. The Red Storm have excelled defensively by holding opponents under 70 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the floor while Joel Soriano leads their offense with 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest while mid-major transfer RJ Luis Jr has added much-needed scoring spark with 11.4 points per contest; Chris Ledlum and Dannis Jenkins also contribute double-digit point totals per contest as well.

The Friars have also been playing well, although their performance has been marred by injuries recently. Bryce Hopkins has been sidelined for two games due to a foot injury, which has significantly diminished their production on both ends of the court despite still ranking among the league leaders defensively. Without Hopkins on court they simply cannot match up as effectively against opposing teams' defense.

If the Red Storm are successful at winning games quickly, it will be hard for any other Big East teams to keep pace. Their offense must remain at its best; Soriano and Carter may face off in a classic guard-versus-center duel that contrasts their respective agility against Soriano's strength and post moves.
