Kansas State begins their 2024-25 basketball season Tuesday when New Orleans returns for their first time since December 1999 when K-State defeated them 62-47 at Bramlage Coliseum. Third-year head coach Jerome Tang will enter this contest with 13 players including three returnees (graduating forward David N'Guessan, junior guard Brendan Hausen and sophomore point guard Taj Manning).
After finishing last season with an overall record of 19-15 and 4-14 in Southland Conference play, New Orleans Privateers made significant roster changes this off-season and lost its top three scorers from its 2015 squad. Entering this game, however, they hope to find success this time around after not qualifying for NCAA Tournament participation last time around.
Last season, New Orleans averaged 67 points per game (178th in Division 1) but scored only 41.8% from the field (178th). They committed 17.5 personal fouls per contest while turning it over 14 times per matchup.
On Oct. 29, in their only public exhibition game, the Privateers were held to a season-low 53 points while losing 70-56 to Division II Fort Hays State. Hausen led all players with 15 points.
In their loss, the Privateers collected 26 defensive rebounds and one offensive rebound while also committing 17 personal fouls and only reaching 16 times at charity stripe. Furthermore, they allowed Wildcats to shoot 69.3% from free throw line and convert 29 of 60 attempts from beyond 3-point arc.
