The Lancers look to score three straight victories as they open the Paradise Jam against UAB, who boast an 3-2 non-conference record this year and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season thanks to Yaxel Lendeborg, an All-American from last season's squad.
Lendeborg is making the most of his opportunity in Birmingham after an inconsistent start to the season. Shooting an impressive 62% from the field, Lendeborg has scored at least four three-pointers in each of his last four games and averaged an incredible 3.6 rebounds per game; also an all-time career high figure!
Longwood's defense has been instrumental in its early success. They currently rank second in the Big South with a +3.0 turnover margin, and held opponents to 29 or less after halftime in consecutive games (Nov 16 at UT Martin and Nov 19 against Binghamton).
UAB stands as one of the nation's best rebounding teams. UAB currently sits fourth with 48.4 rebounds per game led by Yaxel Lendeborg's 11.2, and they have captured more than 20 offensive rebounds in seven of their 10 matches this year.
