Alabama has won three straight and will look to extend that streak against Kent State, who have dropped two of their past three contests. Kent State offers stiff competition to Alabama at Coleman Coliseum.
Kent State will look to avenge their only loss against a ranked team - an 82-57 loss at Auburn on Nov. 13 - by winning back-to-back games since then, including taking down former University of Arizona staffer Antoine Pettway's Kennesaw State team.
Kent State and Kent Central have met twice, with Kent State winning both games. One particularly notable matchup came during the 2002 NCAA Tournament when Kent State scored an astounding upset victory, winning 71-58 to claim one of its biggest ever victories in program history.
Both teams excel at scoring, so this game should feature plenty of points. The over/under total is set at 154.5 points; Alabama should be able to outwit Kent State on defense while still finding ways to push over that amount with their offense.
Alabama's top scorers - Latrell Wrightsell and John Payne - each make at least five three-pointers per game, while VonCameron Davis and Morgan Safford of the Golden Flashes each score over 10 points on an average night. Both teams possess similar rebounding numbers; though Alabama's DeAndre Burnett and Xavier Tillman appear to have slightly more offensive boards.
