College Basketball Preview for February 11-2025 UIC has recently experienced difficulties but could turn things around when they host Murray State Racers this weekend. UIC hopes that Murray State is capable of providing some defensive stability; fourth in MVC in limiting opponents to only 69.7 points per game is its average opponent score for opponents facing them.
The Racers recently won their season series against Valparaiso with a 74-56 win on Saturday to cap a season sweep. Senior guard JaCobi Wood leads his team in both scoring (13.3ppg) and assists (4.9apg), both which rank third among Valley teams. Seniors AJ Ferguson and Kylen Milton also play key roles in scoring 12.1 points per game respectively.
Murray State has had its share of offensive struggles this season, but their defense has kept them competitive enough. Specifically effective on the perimeter is forcing turnovers and restricting opponents shooting ability.
UIC's offense struggled against Bradley in their last outing, shooting only 2 of 23 from 3-point range and only managing 60 points total. While UIC did well with rebounding and turnover ratio, scoring over 60 was impossible for them.
UIC and Murray State are competing for playoff spots in the Missouri Valley Conference, but UIC has proven itself superior defensively, while Murray State has shown some offensive spark.
